Celebrating 30 Years with Volvo: Ade’s Journey
At Volvo Cars Poole, we’re proud to celebrate an incredible milestone, Ade’s 30-year career with the Volvo brand. From the era of cassette players to today’s fully electric vehicles, Ade has witnessed big changes in automotive history. Thirty years in the industry is impressive and thirty years with one brand is truly exceptional.
A Career That Grew with Volvo
Ade began working with Volvo in February 1996 as an apprentice technician, driven by a natural curiosity for how things work and a love of getting hands-on. Since then, both his career and the Volvo brand have evolved dramatically.
Despite changes in the motor trade and business environments over the years, Ade has remained committed to Volvo throughout his working life. His journey has developed alongside the business as it grew into what is now Volvo Cars Poole, part of the Van Mossel Automotive Group, bringing decades of experience and trusted Volvo expertise.
“Products have changed from tape players to starting your car with your phone. Electric cars, connected tech, everything’s evolved.”
From Engines to Electric Vehicles
When Ade started, cars were mostly mechanical and far simpler to diagnose. Today, modern Volvo vehicles are advanced, connected machines with electrified powertrains and complex safety systems.
As Volvo has moved toward electrification, Ade has completed specialist high-voltage training, allowing him to work safely on electric and hybrid Volvo models. From safely powering down vehicles to working on battery systems, he’s among the trained technicians qualified to carry out advanced Electric Vehicle repairs.
“When you put everything back together, take it for a drive and all the faults are gone, it’s very satisfying.”
A Workshop Built for Modern Volvo Technology
Over the years, Ade has seen workshops change just as much as the cars. Today’s Volvo Cars Poole workshop reflects the brand’s premium standards, clean, well-equipped, and designed to support the latest Volvo technology. It’s an environment he’s proud to work in and one that helps deliver the high-quality Volvo service customers expect.
The Technician Customers Remember
A clear sign of Ade’s impact is how many customers remember him personally. It’s not unusual for someone to stop him and say their car is still running perfectly after he worked on it. Some customers have built such trust in his work that they specifically request him.
“I might not always remember the name, but I’ll remember the car and they remember me.”
Supporting the Next Generation
Throughout his career, Ade has helped guide apprentices entering the motor trade, teaching everything from routine servicing to more complex repairs. He takes pride in passing on the standards and attention to detail that have defined his own 30 years with Volvo.
Why Stay with Volvo for 30 Years?
For Ade, it comes down to pride in the product and satisfaction in solving problems. Positive customer feedback and knowing a repair has been completed properly are what keep him motivated.
“When you fix a car and the customer drives away happy, that’s what it’s about.”
Looking Ahead
With new models like the Volvo EX90 and Volvo ES90 and the continued growth of electric vehicles, the future of Volvo technology is advancing fast. Even after three decades, Ade continues to train on new systems, proof that experience and learning go hand in hand.
Thank You, Ade
From everyone at Volvo Cars Poole, thank you, Ade, for 30 years of dedication, knowledge, and care for our customers’ vehicles. Your experience represents the very best of Volvo aftersales expertise.
