Meet the Team - Ben Schofield
When did you start working for Volvo Cars Poole?
I joined Volvo Cars Poole as a Sales Specialist in February this year (2023), bringing with me nearly 9 years of experience in the automotive industry.
What encouraged you to move to Volvo Cars Poole?
I was drawn to Volvo Cars Poole by the opportunity to work in a new environment and explore a different range of products. Leanne Ledger, the Head of Business, played a significant role in helping me make this transition.
What do you like most about your new role?
Getting to work with a fantastic group of people. I also find great satisfaction in promoting a premium product that prioritises safety. Compared to other brands I've worked with, Volvo strikes a balance between luxury and practicality, which resonates well with customers.
What do you like about Volvo?
Their commitment on what they can do better to protect the environment, they then filter that through to their showrooms with their recycling and avoiding single use plastics. I’m a big believer in helping to protect our planet for our children and the next generations. Also, the quality of the product, the way they are made, the high-quality materials they use and their whole ethos about developing recyclable components.
What stands out for you at Volvo Cars Poole?
The showroom is great, it’s a very calming space to be. Even when we have super busy months it’s still enjoyable. There’s always a job to do but it’s a great team atmosphere across all departments.
What’s your favourite Volvo?
They’re all exceptional lifestyle cars but I like V60 or V90 Cross Country. They offer that incredible boot space and ground clearance for when you’re going over things like gravel tracks. I like how they look aesthetically but also the practicality of them as well.
Tell us something interesting about yourself?
My biggest achievements are my two daughters, they’re awesome and bring me so much joy. Outside of that, in 2012 I skateboarded from London to Paris to raise money for my father’s headstone and for Cancer Research. It took eight days to complete and I was welcomed by local skateboarders under the Eiffel Tower when I got there which was great. We celebrated and then had a little party.
In general, it’s all about being outdoors for me. Dorset is so beautiful, we’re incredibly lucky to have so much close by. We have the Jurassic coastline, the New Forest, Old Harry Rocks, Studland and Swanage for lots of activities which I do with my daughters, friends or on my own.
