Meet the Team at Volvo Cars Poole: Michelle, Centre Host
At Volvo Cars Poole, the first smile you see when walking through the showroom belongs to Michelle, one of our friendly Centre Hosts. Michelle has been a welcoming face for nearly ten years, ensuring every customer feels valued from the moment they arrive.
A Journey from Sales to Volvo Reception
Michelle began her career in retail sales, working in shoe stores, before transitioning to the automotive world. Since February 2017, Michelle has been an integral part of the Volvo Cars Poole team, primarily working weekends but also assisting during weekdays.
What Does a Centre Host Do?
As a Centre Host, Michelle is the first point of contact for customers. Her role goes beyond answering phones and greeting visitors, she helps direct customers to the right department, supports the sales team with appointments, and ensures service customers are comfortable while waiting. “Whether someone is here for sales or service, it’s our job to make them feel welcome and ensure they get to the right person,” Michelle explains.
A Team That Feels Like Family
Michelle praises the supportive and friendly environment at Volvo Cars Poole: “Fantastic. I really haven’t worked with such a great team. Everybody pulls together, and I’ve never had any issues in my almost ten years here. The respect and teamwork are just amazing.”
Witnessing the Showroom Transformation
Having started at Volvo’s previous showroom, Michelle has seen significant growth. “Since we moved to this larger showroom on the main road, customers often comment on how lovely the showroom is, and that’s always nice to hear.”
Michelle’s Favourite Volvo Model
When asked about her favourite Volvo, Michelle doesn’t hesitate: the Volvo XC60 with a black exterior and blonde interior. “I just love the car, it’s pure class. I always talk about the blonde interior to customers, and they agree it’s beautiful.”
Customer Insights: Popular Volvo Models
Michelle shares that the Volvo XC40 is the most popular model she sees in the showroom. “It’s not too big, perfect for families, and people love how it drives. We get customers with golf bags, pushchairs, or on Motability schemes, and the Volvo XC40 suits everyone.”
Fun Fact: Baking Enthusiast
Outside of work, Michelle has a passion for baking. She also hopes her granddaughter might one day join the Volvo Cars Poole team for work experience. “The team here is lovely, polite, and welcoming she’d fit right in,” Michelle says.
Looking Forward
Michelle is committed to Volvo Cars Poole and sees herself continuing with the team for many years to come. “I have no plans to leave, I love it here. If I had found this work sooner, I might have even gone into sales!”
